FLUX TU DELFT

FLUX TU DELFT: TEMPORARY TEACHING SPACE WITH THE ATMOSPHERE OF A PERMANENT BUILDING

The TU Delft campus has a new temporary education building: Flux. The building houses over 750 students. Curious? We’ll give you a sneak peak.

APPEARANCE & CHARACTER

Although Flux is a temporary building, its appearance has the character of a permanent place. The façade planting and the rows of trees on the site – a former parking lot – reinforce that atmosphere.

CIRCULAR DESIGN

Architect and director-partner Erik van Eck sees that assembly and prefabrication offers architectural opportunities: ‘Assembly lends itself well to circular design and reuse. Moreover, a building in this setup is easily adaptable. So plenty of opportunities, even though custom design will of course never disappear’.

HOME FOR STUDENTS

The building was created in close cooperation with TU Delft. “The cooperation with the organization and its students is valuable, this is a home for and by students,” Erik said.
