Recently the glass floor has been installed in the Elevatorhuis at Parklaan 8 in Rotterdam as part of our renovation. The Elevatorhuis, designed by Michiel Brinkman and built between 1914 and 1915, is one of the three buildings that are being renovated by Broekbakema. The original quality of the main hall will come back thanks to the glass floor that covers the stained glass vault. This dome was closed off with a floor for years, but can now be opened up and made visible with the glass flooring, allowing for daylight to penetrate into the building. The original structure of the building has now become visible again, as the building transforms into a beautiful new working environment in which its history can be read off the walls.
