Great buildings are created together. Discover how our colleagues view architecture: from climate-positive design to technology and regulations, as well as how the next generation approaches the profession and how buildings can foster connection and community. Our colleagues share their stories and perspectives.
Chiel Veenstra – Taking the Next Step Towards Becoming an Architect

“I have known since I was fifteen that I wanted to become an architect.”
After completing his Bachelor’s degree in Built Environment, Chiel moved from Groningen to Rotterdam to pursue his ambition. Today, he works as an Assistant Designer at Broekbakema, where he continues to discover new aspects of the profession every day. From residential and educational projects to highly technical environments, it is the unfamiliar that helps him grow as an architect.
Pascal Biemolt – Where Design and Technology Meet

“Keep it simple.”
According to Pascal, the strength of architecture often lies in its apparent simplicity. Yet behind that simplicity is a world of technical challenges, regulations and detailing. In his story, he explains how architectural quality is often found in the details and why a successful design requires much more than a good idea.
Tobias Van Westrenen – Earth, Wind & Fire

“The future of sustainable building may be closer to nature than we think.”
Tobias introduces the Earth, Wind & Fire concept: an innovative approach to ventilation, heating and cooling that uses natural elements as key components. For a project in Belgium, we are contributing to a pioneering development that demonstrates how architecture and building technology can strengthen one another.
Sandra Sánchez de la Garza – Designing for Connection

“For me, architecture is ultimately about more than buildings; it is about relationships.”
Sandra sees architecture as a way to connect people with each other and with their surroundings. Drawing on her international background, she explores how buildings can encourage interaction and strengthen communities. In her story, she explains how this vision is reflected in projects ranging from urban developments to the redevelopment of the ABN AMRO headquarters in Amsterdam.
