Three students are helping to build the future of human-centered design

26 February 2026

Three interns, three visions of architecture, and one shared curiosity about how design can positively contribute to our living environment.

Daniël de Haas:
“The value of architecture lies in its ability to stimulate human interaction.
Architecture is all around us. It shapes the way we move, feel, and express ourselves in an environment. For me, architecture is about stimulating interaction through people-oriented design. That’s why I believe it’s important to create a healthy living environment, where buildings and context not only meet but also reinforce each other.

Fleur van Veldhoven:
“The power of good design lies in its interaction with the user.”
With my background in Product Design, I believe the essence of good design lies in the interaction between the user, the design, and the environment. I want to delve deeper into how the use of materials and the design of architecture and interiors can communicate and invite interaction with the environment. In my view, this is where the power of a space lies: it should not only be experienced, but also actively stimulate the user. I look forward to exploring this further and growing within spatial design at Broekbakema.

Irem Erpolat:
“Architecture is where caring for people and innovation come together.” What I like most about architecture is how it can subtly support people by shaping how we move, come together, and feel connected to a place, without us even realizing it. I am drawn to this quiet, human impact, and I find it particularly exciting to learn how I can combine this with technology to create smarter, more sustainable, and responsible environments.
